Workplace Noise Assessments
Protect Your Team and Stay Legally Compliant, Expert Workplace Noise Assessments
Avoid hefty fines, safeguard your workers’ hearing and meet WHS obligations with a Dowell Solutions WHS Noise Assessment.
Is your team's Hearing protected?
You’ve got machines running, tools grinding, forklifts beeping and somewhere in the background, there’s a question hanging in the air:
“Are we doing enough to protect our team’s hearing?”
For most workplaces, the honest answer is… probably not.
And it’s not because they don’t care… it’s because noise compliance feels complicated, technical and easy to put off.
The Real Problem?
Noise risks are invisible… until it’s too late.
You’re dealing with confusing WHS regulations, a shelf full of PPE, and no clear idea how long someone can safely use a 94 dB drill. Without proper data and guidance, it’s a guessing game.
That leaves you exposed, not just to fines or audit stress, but to real health risks for your team, such as permanent hearing damage, Workers’ compensation claims and legal liability.
And the worst part? It was preventable.

What if you could stop guessing and start leading with confidence?
You stop dealing with:
And instead, you’ll have:
Uncertainty around legal limits for noise exposure
A clear, compliant noise report that meets the Code of Practice
Confusion about which hearing protection is actually required
Confidence in your PPE strategy and time-based exposure controls
Stress every time an audit, tender or inspection comes up
Documentation that’s ready to support you in audits and leadership meetings
Risk of hearing damage and costly compensation claims
A safer workplace where your team knows exactly what’s required and why
What is a Workplace Noise Assessment & Why Does It Matter?
A workplace noise assessment measures how loud your environment really is and how long it’s legally safe for workers to be exposed.
We use specialised sound level meters to record key readings like LAeq (average noise), LAmax (peak levels) and exposure over time. These results are then compared against legal thresholds set by the Safe Work Australia Code of Practice (2024), and NSW Code of Practice (2022).
For example:
A drop saw at 94 dB? That’s a max of 1 hour of exposure without protection.
A reversing alarm at 88 dB? Max 4 hours.
Anything above 85 dB? You’re required to act

Meeting the law matters, but keeping your team safe is what really counts.
Uncontrolled exposure can lead to permanent hearing damage, higher workers comp claims, and liability under WHS law.
This assessment gives you the clarity to act with documentation to back it up.
"The legal noise exposure limit is 85 dB(A) over 8 hours-if you have to raise your voice to be heard, you’re likely over the limit
